"It's-a me, Mario!"
This is Mario. A man that needs no introduction, but is given one anyway. Mario is Nintendo's official mascot, and the most recognizable character in video game history. He is looking absolutely gorgeous in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. Have a look at that detail. That is one fine looking plumber.
Mario is famously known for thwarting the evil Bowser's plans and saving the lovely Princess Peach. He has also been known to be an avid tennis player, golfer, kart racer, doctor, even dancer! The Mario series is the best selling series of all time, with Super Mario Bros. being the best selling video game of all time, selling over 40 million copies, and Super Mario Bros. 3 being the best selling video game that wasn't included as a console pack-in, selling over 18 million games.
First appearance: Donkey Kong (Arcade)
You can check out a list of Mario's confirmed moves and their effects below.

| Special Moves |
| Standard Special Move: Fireball |
This is Mario’s projectile move. Mario will shoot a fireball from the palm of his hand. The fireball will bounce along the ground as it moves. It will disappear after a certain distance if it fails to hit anyone.
| Side Special Move: Cape |
Mario will swing his cape in front of him. Doing this at the right time will reflect a projectile, sending it back in the direction it came from, and damaging whoever released the projectile if it comes in contact with them. It can also spin opponents around if used to physically attack them, causing minor damage.
| Up Special Move: Super Jump Punch |
Mario attacks with a jumping punch. Opponents who get hit by this will be trapped in a combo, as this move allows for multiple hits. The amount of damage this move does depends on how many hits you can land on the opponent. Coins will fly out whilst opponents are hit by this move.
| Down Special Move: F.L.U.D.D. |
Mario will release water on his opponents using F.L.U.D.D. from Super Mario Sunshine. Whilst the attack does no damage, it pushes foes away at great distance. Players can hold down the special move button (even whilst shielding) will charge up the move, which increases the distance opponents will be pushed away.
| Final Smash |
| Mario Finale |
Mario will launch a fiery explosion from his hands, which expands vertically as it travels along. Anyone unlucky enough to get caught in this massive attack can expect to receive massive damage. It is best to launch this attack in a midair position at the left or right of the stage to give this attack the largest range possible.
