Samus Aran, the legendary bounty hunter that annihilated the Space Pirates as well as the Metroids, makes a return to Super Smash Bros. Brawl. She seems to have changed the most out of the veteran fighters revealed thus far, with the ability to change into Zero Suit Samus once certain conditions are met.

Samus is noted as being one of the first female protagonists in videogames. In the instruction booklets for Metroid, she was actually described as a male cyborg. It is a custom of the Metroid series for Samus to be seen with more revealing clothing should the player fulfill certain conditions after completing the game, such as completing the game in a short amount of time).

Another popular trend for the series is for Samus to lose her weapons at the beginning of the game, forcing players to recollect them.

First Appearance: Metroid (NES)

You can check out a list of Samus' confirmed moves and their effects below.

Special Moves
Standard Special Move: Charge Beam
Samus will charge up to release a large ball of energy. Pressing the special button once will begin charging, and pressing again will release the charge. Players can stop charging half way by moving left or right. The damage depends on how long you charged the shot. Players cannot charge in midair.
Side Special Move: Missile
Samus will fire a missile at the opponent. It’s a heat seeking missile, and will therefore follow the opponent about. The missile slows as it travels, eventually exploding if it either hits the opponent or comes to a halt.
Final Smash
Zero Laser
Samus will fire off a laser beam of epic proportions. Samus’ Power Suit will fall off once this move is executed, and players will then be in control of Zero Suit Samus. Players can throw parts of Samus’ broken Power Suit around as if they were items.
