Samus Aran, the legendary bounty hunter that annihilated the Space Pirates as well as the Metroids, makes a return to Super Smash Bros. Brawl. She seems to have changed the most out of the veteran fighters, with the ability to change into Zero Suit Samus after using her Zero Laser.
Samus first appeared in her Zero Suit in Metroid Zero Mission, a GBA remake of the original Metroid game for the NES. Late in the game, Players had to control Samus without her usual suit, which meant she didn’t have the ability to use the Morph Ball or Missiles, as well as take more damage from attacks. She did have access to a handgun that could stun enemies however, which can apparently be used as a whip as well in Brawl.
Samus has been seen in her Zero Suit in every Metroid game since. Show your stuff, Samus!
First Appearance: Metroid: Zero Mission (GBA)

| Special Moves |
| Standard Special Move: Paralyzer |
Zero Suit Samus will fire her gun, paralyzing the opponent if it hits. Players can charge this move so that opponents can be paralyzed for a longer period of time, so they can be given the opportunity to get free hits on the opponent. The move is primarily for self-defence however.
| Side Special Move: Plasma Whip |
Zero Suit Samus will her extend her whip sideways. The flash at the tip of the whip is the most powerful part of this attack. It can also be used as a tether recovery move to get back on the stage.
| Up Special Move: Plasma Wire |
Zero Suit Samus will extend her plasma whip upwards. Those caught in the whip's grasp will be pulled downwards towards Zero Suit Samus. It can also be used as a tether recovery move to get back on the stage.
